Description

William Ashley “Billy” Sunday (1862-1935) began his career as a baseball player for the Chicago White Stockings, but later became one of the most influential American evangelists during the first two decades of the 20th century. Between 1896 and 1935 he gave an estimated 20,000 sermons and saw more than a million people publicly confess their acceptance of Christ.

This 1964 documentary presents scenes of Billy Sunday’s major league baseball career, his conversion and ordination to the ministry, his tabernacles and tremendous crowds, the sawdust trail, his war against liquor, his friendships with the great men of his time, and some of the results of his colorful ministry. It also includes scenes of evangelist Billy Graham in one of his crusades. In black and white.
