Plea of a Convicted “Witch”

One of nineteen persons convicted of witchcraft, Mary Easty petitioned Governor Phips a few weeks before she was hanged. An excerpt from her 1692 plea is not reproducted here because of copyright considerations, but can be read in The Puritans in America: A Narrative Anthology. (Harvard University Press, 1985.)
