Be at Peace - 1900

Introduction

John Charles (“J.C.”) Ryle was a notable evangelical in the Church of England, a critic of ritualism, and the first Anglican bishop of Liverpool. He authored many books and pamphlets, including “Are You Born Again?” On this day February 1, 1900, he penned a farewell message to the pastors of his diocese. The following month he resigned. Within five months he was dead.

Quote

“Beware of divisions. One thing the children of the world can always understand, if they do not understand doctrine; that thing is angry quarreling and controversy. Be at peace among yourselves.”
